Val DiGiorgio's practice focuses on banking and real estate with an emphasis on commercial lending, tax-exempt financing, banking compliance law, and federal and state lending law. Mr. DiGiorgio also oversees the loan collection and real estate foreclosure activities of various banking and other lender clients.

Additionally, Mr. DiGiorgio is a member of the firm's Government and Public Affairs Practice Group. In this capacity he provides government and public relations services to Stradley, Ronon clients in a variety of industries. Such services include business development, lobbying, securing and documenting public sector financing, and performing a full spectrum of legislative affairs activities.

Val DiGiorgio has been active in local and state politics for almost two decades. Prior to joining Stradley, Ronon, Mr. DiGiorgio served as Chief of Staff to Senator Melissa A. Hart of the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and served as counsel to the Pennsylvania Department of Banking during the Ridge Administration. In 2002, Mr. DiGiorgio took a temporary leave of absence from Stradley, Ronon to serve as the Southeastern Pennsylvania Political Director for the Fisher for Governor Campaign. Mr. DiGiorgio was recently appointed solicitor for Uwchlan Township Industrial Development Authority (IDA) in Chester County. The IDA serves as a conduit borrower for tax-exempt borrowings and bond issuances on behalf of non-profit entities and manufacturing companies.

Mr. DiGiorgio's professional experience includes the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) where he worked as a bank examiner analyzing institutional compliance with federal rules and regulations.

Some examples of the types of transactions and clients Mr. DiGiorgio has performed or represented are:

  • Advising, on a daily basis, financial institution clients regarding compliance with state and federal regulatory matters, origination of mortgage loans, maintenance of customer deposits; and various related matters;
  • Advising banking and credit union clients with regard to the electronic delivery of consumer compliance disclosures over the Internet;
  • Representing banking clients with regard to sale of non-deposit investment products;
  • Reviewing Internet Banking Agreements and procedures for financial institutions clients;
  • Representing a large nonprofit organization with regard to a $28,000,000 bond issue to fund the construction and refinancing of various educational facilities;
  • Advising a commercial savings bank and other financial institution clients with regard to compliance with Federal Truth in Lending laws, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Anti-Predatory Lending laws and other state and federal consumer protection laws;
  • Advising and representing financial institution clients in connection with the establishment of subsidiaries and affiliates to perform various services for customers;
  • Making a presentation to large residential mortgage lenders about compliance with federal and state consumer lending laws;
  • Representing a nonprofit community organization before state legislators and governor's staff regarding state capital budget funding for construction of the nonprofit client's new facilities;
  • Representing a county government in connection with an approximately $32 million refunding of debt from a government-related financing authority; and
  • Serving as bond counsel to a Pennsylvania county in connection with the issuance of $16,000,000 in General Obligation Bonds.

Mr. DiGiorgio is a board member of both the Upper Main Line and Lionville Community YMCAs, a member of the Chester County Republican Party's Executive Committee, a volunteer for Chester County Futures, a member of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's Educational Opportunity Grant Committee, a Board Member of the Uwchlan Township Zoning Board, and a Board Member of 202 Housing, Inc., a nonprofit corporation providing housing for mentally challenged people. In addition, Mr. DiGiorgio was recognized as an up and coming star in Pennsylvania politics, by the The Legal Intelligencer's '50 on the Fast Track. He was one of 50 lawyers chosen from hundreds of nominations for what he has achieved in his career and for the potential he shows to be a leader of the Pennsylvania bar in the years to come.
