Jennifer L. Groves' practice in the area of healthcare and human services focuses on representation of healthcare facilities and other providers, including ambulatory surgical facilities, residential care homes, emergency medical services providers, behavioral health providers, faculty practice plans, private physician practices and hospitals before the Office of Health Care Access, the Department of Public Health and various other federal and state agencies. She assisted in the representation of the purchaser in the state's first-ever for-profit hospital conversion, specifically by appearing before the Office of Health Care Access and the Office of the Attorney General in regulatory approval hearings and before the Department of Public Health, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other state and federal agencies with respect to the licensure and certification of the hospital. Ms. Groves also provides general compliance, quality assurance and risk management advice to various healthcare providers, including, notably, advice on compliance with HIPAA and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
Ms. Groves' professional liability practice focuses on all aspects of medical and dental malpractice litigation, including motion practice, depositions, settlement negotiations and court proceedings, as well as representation of physicians and dentists in connection with licensure investigations by the Department of Public Health.
Ms. Groves is an active member of various professional and community associations, including the American Health Lawyers Association, the Connecticut Health Lawyers Association, the Connecticut Bar Association Health Law Section and the Greater New Haven Health Care Council. She was also a participant in the Office Of Health Care Access Study Group Concerning Inpatient/Outpatient Data Collection Regulations in 2002. Ms. Groves is also active in the Junior League of Greater New Haven, a community organization committed to promoting volunteerism and developing the potential of women.
Ms. Groves received her J.D. from Boston College Law School in Newton, Massachusetts, and her B.A., with distinction, from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
