Amparo Romero was born November 3, 1956 in Quito, Ecuador. She received her law degree (LL.B.) from Central University of Ecuador and was admitted to the Ecuadorian bar in 1996. Dr. Amparo Romero has extensive post-graduate studies experience in the United States and Europe. In 1994 she participated in Harvard University's Negotiation Seminar with Roger Fisher. She took part in the Quito Chamber of Commerce Mediation and Arbitration Workshop in 1996. In 2000 she received her LL.M. in International Law from American University's Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. The author of scholarly works, Dr. Romero has written on Intellectual Property Law, Commercial Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Her publications include Commercial Arbitration in Ecuador (1996) and Trademark Tips: Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property (2000). Before becoming a partner at Romero Arteta Ponce, Dr. Romero worked at the Food Agricultural Organization (FAO) and Continental Bank. Dr. Romero has extensive experience and expertise in the areas of aviation law, corporations, commercial arbitration, negotiation, mediation and immigration/naturalization law. She is a member of the Inter-American Bar Association, Inter-American Lawyers Federation, International Bar Association, and the Quito Bar Association.
