Jean-Marc Fortier

Jean-Marc Fortier practised in the areas of business law, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, securities and aerospace law from 1973 to 1994, and acted on behalf of numerous Canadian and international companies as partner with several law firms in Montreal. In 1994, Mr. Fortier joined Telesystem Ltd., a major Canadian telecommunications company, as vice president and general counsel. As vice president, Mr. Fortier represented Telesystem and its affiliates in connection with capital markets financing in Canada, the United States and Europe, and investment in telecommunication projects in Europe, Latin America and Asia, specifically in the People's Republic of China.

In 1999, Mr. Fortier joined BCE Media, a subsidiary of BCE, as executive vice president and general counsel. He was responsible for legal affairs and for mergers and acquisitions for BCE Media and for Bell GlobeMedia in Quebec. He was also director and member of the executive committees of several companies part of the BCE Media Group, namely Infosat Telecommunication, Extend Media and TMI Communications. He was also on the Board of Directors of a number of Canadian companies in satellite services and information technology.

In 2002, Mr. Fortier joined BCF as counsel and in August 2004, he became a full-time partner.

He also sits on the board of directors of a number of companies in the insurance, venture capital and foreign investment sectors.
