Eric J. Ouimet

Eric was one of the founding partners of BCF in 1995. He represents entrepreneurs in every field, including manufacturing and high-tech companies, real estate owners, commercial lessors and tenants, as well as professionals such as engineers, architects, and chartered accountants. He specializes in commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution. He is active before every common law tribunal (including the Federal Court) as well as arbitration tribunals. Through his practice, he advises clients daily on all aspects of construction law, tendering processes, patents, arbitration, and many other commercial matters.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

In addition to his involvement in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Eric sat for the two previous terms on the Board of Directors of BCF Executive and sat on the Executive Committee of the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club. He was head of the litigation department of BCF in 2002?2003. He is co-leader of BCF's Dispute Resolution and Construction practice groups.

In January 2005, he also participated as a tutor during a practical course held in Chicago by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators to Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw.

Eric was also a member of the Board of ICCA Montreal 2006 Organizing Committee, which organized the ICCA (International Council on Commercial Arbitration) Congress, the most important worldwide congress in the field of international commercial arbitration. He is now a director of the Canadian Arbitration Congress.
