Bruce A. Christensen, a member of the firm since 1975 and shareholder since 1980, specializes in marital and family law and also practices commercial litigation, including involvement in construction litigation. 

Over his career Mr. Christensen has represented clients of wealth in complex dissolution of marriage, custody and paternity cases some of which were for high profile business, entertainment and sports figures as well as professional and business people.  He also has been involved in a variety of commercial litigation cases including commercial transaction disputes and litigation relating to the design, engineering and construction of buildings and facilities as varied as nuclear power plants and sewerage treatment plants.

Representative appellate opinions include Johnson v Johnson, 725 So.2d 1209 (Fla. 3DCA 1999) and Heinrich v Heinrich, 609 So. 2d. 94 (Fla. 3 DCA 1992).

He graduated from Duke University School of Law and served as Vice President and a member of the Board of Governors of the Duke Bar Association.  He also was editor for two years of The Devil's Advocate, the law school newspaper and co-authored a book published on legal research.  Mr. Christensen received his B.A. with honors from Drake University and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Mr. Christensen was one of the founders of the First Family Law American Inns of Court and is a Master of the Bench.  He has served on its Executive Council and as President.   Mr. Christensen serves on the Board of Managers of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

He served on the Family Rules Committee of The Florida Bar when it authored the new Florida Family Law Rules of Procedure, and was a member of the Executive Council of the Family Law Section and The Florida Bar Family Law Certification Committee.  He has also served as a member of The Florida Bar Continuing Legal Education Committee, Family Law Section Continuing Legal Education Committee, and the Dade County Concerned Matrimonial Lawyers.

Mr. Christensen is actively involved as a firm representative with Meritas, a worldwide affiliation of independent law firms, and has served on its Board of Directors and various committees.  The firm is South Florida's Meritas affiliate member.

With a longstanding interest in professionalism, Mr. Christensen was part of an informal group of judges and lawyers who have fostered the professionalism movement.  He now serves as a Member of the 11th Circuit Professionalism Committee, established by the Supreme Court of Florida.

Mr. Christensen is a member of the American Bar Association and its sections on Family Law and Economics of Law Practice. 

Mr. Christensen participates in community organizations including the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Yes Institute, the Nature Conservancy, Fairchild Tropical Gardens, and the Duke Club of South Florida.

Mr. Christensen's publications include "Premarital Agreements" published in Marriage Contracts in Florida by The Florida Bar in 1984 and a book he co-authored titled North Carolina Legal Research published by The Mitchie Company in 1975 and "Development of Evidence-Organization of the Evidence and Use of Discovery Tools in Developing, Organizing and Analyzing the Facts Found".

Mr. Christensen is admitted to practice in Florida. 

Mr. Christensen is Florida Bar Board Certified in Marital and Family Law and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has achieved an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest rating possible regarding legal ability and professional ethics.

He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, South Florida Guide to Top Lawyers, Who's Who in American Law, and Who?s Who in Executives & Professionals.  Mr. Christensen has also been named as a 2006 Florida Super Lawyer in the area of family law.  This distinction is reserved for the top 5% of Florida attorneys in their respective areas of practice as chosen by their peers and the independent research of Law and Politics.
