Mr. Heyman is a partner with the firm's Litigation Department.  Mr. Heyman has extensive experience representing a variety of businesses, financial institutions, and individuals in complex commercial litigation in various state and federal courts throughout Maryland and around the country.  His experience includes financial services and securities litigation, antitrust, and complex commercial disputes.  Mr. Heyman has also represented a variety of businesses in complex technology matters and disputes.  He has represented clients in various matters, including: 

  • successfully defended a top-20 commercial bank in a contract/benefits action brought by the bank's former CEO and another senior executive
  • defended numerous financial services litigation claims on behalf of financial institutions related to UCC, trust, lender liability, fraud, consumer protection, and other issues
  • represented shareholders of public and private companies in state and federal courts in class actions, and other actions, involving securities fraud, broker-dealer, and investment advisor related litigation
  • member of team that litigated antitrust claims against Microsoft in Federal Multidistrict Litigation
  • represents clients in securities arbitrations before the National Association of Securities Dealers and other SROs

Mr. Heyman has been the firm's pro bono coordinator since 2004, and has consistently represented clients referred from the Maryland Volunteer Lawyer Service and other agencies.  He is an active member of the Commercial and Business Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association Litigation Section (where he is the Fourth Circuit reporter for the Case and Statute Commentary Project) and of the ABA's Litigation Section's Securities Committee (where he is the author of a section of its 2006 Broker-Dealer Survey).  Outside of his professional practice and bar activities, he volunteers his time and talents to community affairs. Currently, he is a Delegate to the Baltimore Jewish Council and on the Board of Jewish Vocational Service, an employment counseling and career development agency.
