Louis-Paul Marin's is an engineer and a lawyer. His practice focuses on general transactions and his expertise lies in intellectual property issues, research, development and transfer of technology.
Working as an in-house counsel for many years at Shire BioChem Inc. (formerly BioChem Pharma Inc.) and Alcan Aluminium Limited, Louis-Paul gained an in-depth understanding of the life sciences industries. This experience has made him sensitive to the business needs of clients and in-house counsel, which allows him to provide the best possible legal services in the most efficient manner.
Louis-Paul's most recent experiences include the preparation and negotiation of intellectual property licenses, collaboration contracts, manufacturing contracts, distribution and research contracts for high technology companies, among others. He has had the opportunity to negotiate and prepare research and cooperation agreements with universities as well as agreements pertaining to mega-projects involving federal and provincial governments as co-contracting parties.
During his studies, he had the opportunity to accomplish and publish research, thus developing an understanding of researchers in their laboratories.
He was called to the Québec bar in 1997. He previously practiced in the largest national law firm in Canada. |
