| José A. Acosta-GrubbShareholder José A. Acosta-Grubb is a member of the litigation division at Fiddler González & Rodríguez, P.S.C. Among the noteworthy cases which Mr. Acosta has litigated, is his defense of the Dupont Plaza Hotel's interest in the complex multi-district litigation that was generated as the result of the tragic San Juan hotel fire. He successfully represented the Puerto Rico Telephone Company in a far-reaching telecommunications litigation which substantially opened the long distance service market to broader competition among carriers. Mr. Acosta also successfully represented Puerto Rico's Blue Shield Company in a multi-million dollar action which sought compensation for a costly, but defective, computer system. Mr. Acosta served as an Assistant Solicitor General for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico from 1974 to 1976. From 1977 to 1980, he litigated as an Assistant United States Attorney, and was the Director of the Civil Division of that Office. Mr. Acosta served thereafter as an Assistant United States Public Defender.
