| José Julián Alvarez-MaldonadoShareholder José Julián Alvarez-Maldonado is a member of the corporate division of Fiddler González & Rodríguez, P.S.C. Mr. Alvarez participated in the drafting of the 1995 Puerto Rico General Corporate Law. He has also been involved in the design of the excise tax prepayment system adopted by the Puerto Rico Department of Treasury in relation to air freight carriers. Mr. Alvarez has actively participated in several bond issues for the government of Puerto Rico and its agencies and instrumentalities, as well as in the syndications of a number of limited or special partnerships in Puerto Rico. He has also participated in several major acquisitions including Wometco Theaters, Builder Square, Suiza Dairy and Aventis Pharmaceuticals among others. José Julián Alvarez served as an Associate Professor of Law for the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law for four years, and is the author of an article published in the University of Puerto Rico Law Review. He has also participated as a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Examination Committee on Corporate Law. Mr. Alvarez was president of the Puerto Rico Membership Committee for the American Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division. He was also a member of the Corporations Committee of the Puerto Rico Academy of Jurisprudence. He has been selected for the last three years by Chambers Partners World Leading Lawyer as one of Puerto Rico's leading corporate attorneys.
