Mitch is a Partner in the Commercial Property Practice and provides extensive legal service in relation to a broad range of commercial and commercial property transactions. He is also Managing Partner of the firm.
Originally from Canada Mitch commenced his professional career, not as a lawyer, but as an accountant. Prior to relocating to Perth he spent a number of years in senior management positions in the Canadian Oil and Gas industry, including Chief Accountant for a medium sized oil and gas company. His experience in organising, planning and structuring exploration and production activities has provided a sound backdrop for his substantial expertise in commercial, property and contract law.
Having joined Downings in 1994, Mitch was made a partner in 1998 and took on his current role of Managing Partner in 2000. The breadth of his commercial experience includes advising on, negotiating and drafting contractual and commercial matters, major commercial and industrial developments, intellectual property licence agreements for a number of multi-national companies as well as the sale of various commercial software packages. Mitch is a member of a number of professional organisations in the property and commercial areas and has presented a number of papers and seminars in those areas of law. |
