Melissa Fernandez, an associate at the Miami office since 2003, joined Richman Greer, P.A. after clerking with the firm in the summer of 2002. Before joining the firm, Ms. Fernandez served as an intern with the Honorable Shelby Highsmith at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida during the summer of 2001, and interned with the Virgil Hawkins Civil Law Clinics, Pro Se Family Law Clinic, during the spring of 2003. Ms. Fernandez received her J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, graduating cum laude in May 2003. While at the College of Law, Ms. Fernandez was a member of the Florida Law Review, where she served as Symposium Editor in the spring of 2003 and Assistant Symposium Editor in the fall of 2002. Ms. Fernandez was also the recipient of the Pro Se Civil Clinic Book Award in the spring of 2003 and served as a teaching assistant for Appellate Advocacy in the spring of 2002, for Legal Research and Writing in the fall of 2001 and is listed in Who's Who: American Law Students, 22nd Edition. She received her B.A. in English and minor in business administration from Florida International University, where she graduated summa cum laude in April 2000. Ms. Fernandez is a member of the Miami-Dade County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division, the Cuban American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. She also serves as a member on the United Way Young Leaders Executive Board and is a member of the Junior League of Miami. Ms. Fernandez is admitted to practice in Florida and before the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
