Simon specialises in non-contentious construction law and has acted for a number of major clients in the UK construction and engineering industry, including Carillion, Tubelines and Network Rail. Simon has drafted and negotiated construction documents for projects in the rail, energy and commercial property sectors. Simon?s experience in commercial property includes acting for clients in relation to retail, hotel and leisure, office and residential developments. His experience also includes advising private sector participants on a number of PPP and PFI projects, principally in the health and defence sectors. These include several NHS ?LIFT? Projects and MOD ?Prime? Contracts. Simon trained at Hammonds (where he was sponsored by the construction unit) and worked as a construction lawyer at Simmons & Simmons and the US law firm Kilpatrick Stockton before joining FSI in January 2006. Since joining FSI Simon has advised the Telegraph Group on construction issues in relation to the acquisition of new headquarters for the Daily Telegraph and advised Littlewoods and Monsoon on construction issues in relation to their retail stores and property interests. Simon is also providing construction advice to clients who are relocating to allow for the development of the Olympic site in east London. A chartered quantity surveyor, Simon practiced as a surveyor for ten years before qualifying as a solicitor. Simon is a member of the Society of Construction Law and an Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). |
