| Dr. León Núñez received a doctorate in law from the University of Oviedo and the University of Murcia (Spain), awarded in 1967. He also undertook additional specialized studies in commercial law at the University of Madrid in 1968. Dr. Núñez held the position of Judge of the Civil, Penal, and Labor District Court of Chontales. Later, he was Judge of the Civil Court of Appeals of Granada, Nicaragua. In 1979, Dr. Núñez worked as an attorney and notary public in Costa Rica, where he also held the post of Civil, Penal and Labor Judge. Later, he joined the Law Firm of Odio & Raven, where he practiced private law. He returned to Nicaragua in 1990 and worked as legal advisor to the Presidency of the Central Bank of Nicaragua and as Secretary of its Board of Directors. He was responsible for the legal organization of the Nicaraguan Stock Exchange in 1992, where he remained as legal advisor until 2001. In 2000, he founded the Law Firm of León Núñez & Asociados, and later joined the Núñez, Rizo, Zambrana & Argüello Law Firm as a senior partner. León Núñez's professional career has covered a wide range of legal arenas, including corporate law, commercial law, banking law, finance law, and international commercial transactions. In addition, he advises on foreign investment, free trade zones, energy and telecommunications industries. His practice includes civil and commercial litigation, as well as arbitration León Núñez has been an advisor to different domestic and international banks. He is currently an attorney for the Bank of Production (BANPRO) in Nicaragua, and notary for the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE), among others. Dr. Núñez has participated in various legal commissions. His most noteworthy appointments include President of the Committee to Draft Nicaragua's Financial Legislation (1998-1999), Member of the Committee to Draft the Code of Civil Procedure of Costa Rica, and Coordinator of the Committee to Draft the Code of Commerce of Nicaragua (1991-1993). He has also taught civil law (contracts) at Universidad Centroamericana in Managua. León Núñez is a columnist for the La Prensa newspaper, and a member of its Editorial Board.
