John R. McGhee, Jr. is the Chairman of the firm's Insurance/Litigation Practice Group. Mr. McGhee's practice of law is primarily concentrated in the areas of insurance defense, products/premises liability defense, insurance coverage, as well as in federal criminal defense work. Mr. McGhee graduated cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College in 1986 with a bachelor's degree, and he is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa. He received his J.D. degree from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1989 and is a member of the Order of the Coif. Mr. McGhee was Co-Editor of the National Coal Issue of the West Virginia Law Review. He was admitted to practice law in West Virginia in 1989 and in Kentucky in 1997 and is listed in The Best Lawyers In America for Insurance Law. Mr. McGhee is a former Vestry Member and Senior Warden of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Charleston, West Virginia, and currently serves as Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia. He is a former District Commissioner and current Executive Board Member of the Buckskin Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is the lawyer representative for the United States District Court for the Southern District of WestVirginia for Criminal Justice Act Attorneys. Additionally, Mr. McGhee serves on the Board of Trustees for the West Virginia State Bar Client Protection Fund. |
