Ms. Mathews' practice involves the representation of creditors, creditors' committees and trustees in bankruptcy proceedings and workouts. Ms. Mathews is experienced in representing banks, finance companies, and commercial and consumer lending institutions in bankruptcy cases and bankruptcy litigation matters. Ms. Mathews regularly provides bankruptcy advice to insurance carriers and their affiliates, real estate lessors, utilities and governmental agencies. Ms. Mathews also represents unsecured creditors' committees and Chapter 7 and 11 trustees in bankruptcy litigation matters. In addition to her bankruptcy practice, Ms. Mathews also represents banks and commercial clients in commercial and consumer credit litigation matters in state and federal courts, including the recovery of equipment, inventory and other collateral for secured creditors, the defense of breach of warranty and related claims, as well as the defense of claims for violations of the South Carolina Consumer Protection Code, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act.
