Joel N. Jacobson, a member of the firm's Management Committee, has thirty years experience in financial services, creditors' rights, real estate, and corporate law.

For many years, Joel served as the outside general counsel to the mortgage banking subsidiary of a federally chartered savings bank. Joel has represented many other financial institutions in commercial lending transactions, including construction loans, permanent mortgage loans, asset-based loans and equipment leases. Joel's financial services experience includes a wide range of regulatory, operational and litigation matters.

In the area of creditors' rights, Joel has represented a large number of financial institutions in connection with their non-performing commercial loans. As part of such representation, he has handled foreclosure actions, commercial litigation, bankruptcies, receiverships and consensual workouts involving a wide range of collateral, including large residential developments, office and industrial buildings, hotels, golf courses, vacant land, and both tangible and intangible business assets. Joel has also performed similar services for numerous servicers of large residential mortgage loan portfolios and has been specifically engaged by several of these servicers to provide consulting and oversight services with respect to non-performing loans.

Joel has represented real estate owners, developers and investors in a broad range of real estate transactions. Joel's real estate clients have included the original developer of the Harborside Terminal in Jersey City, several private investment entities specializing in the acquisition and management of warehouse buildings throughout the U.S., the owner of a large industrial complex in Hanover Township, the owners of several K-Mart stores and a fast-food franchisee engaged in a major expansion program. As part of his representation of financial institutions, Joel has handled hundreds of sales of owned real estate, including many complex transactions involving bankruptcies and joint ventures.

In the area of corporate law, Joel has served as counsel to many closely held corporations in a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, retail, fuel oil distribution, restaurants, construction and technology. As part of such representation, he has handled many purchases and sales of businesses.
