| Peter van Niekerk has 20 years litigation experience and is one of the firm's senior partners in the litigation department. Peter sits as a Commissioner of the Small Claims Court and he has served as an Assessor of the High Court of South Africa, and as a mediator and arbitrator in commercial disputes. Peter specialises in general commercial litigation. He also advises clients on various aspects of pension fund law, employment law, insurance and family law. He headed the legal team that recently won the case for two pension funds in terms of which the defendant was ordered to pay close to one billion rand for breach of contract. This is thought to be one of the biggest awards in South African legal history. His client base consists mainly of companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
