Drew Cardonick is a principal in the firm's Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Group. He primarily represents lenders such as commercial banks, savings institutions, business credit institutions and other financial institutions in large and mid-sized bankruptcy cases, restructurings, workouts and liquidations throughout the country. He has also documented loan transactions, as well as distressed debt transactions for large and mid-sized clients. Mr. Cardonick has spoken widely on various bankruptcy and related topics, including cash collateral, debtor-in-possession financing, bankruptcy sales and the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act. He is a member of Commercial Finance Association and of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and is on the Newsletter Committee of TMA's Chicago Chapter. Mr. Cardonick is the author of "Let the Lender Beware: The Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act," The Secured Lender (2002). He also served as executive editor of Ginsberg and Martin on Bankruptcy (4th edition). Mr. Cardonick is admitted to practice in Illinois and New York, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and various other district courts. He received his law degree, with honors, in 1992 from the University of Chicago and his B.S. in accounting, summa cum laude, in 1989 from Pennsylvania State University. He served on the University of Chicago Law Review. From 1992 to 1993, he was a law clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Ginsberg, United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Illinois. He is currently co-chair of the newsletter committee of the Turnaround Management Association (Chicago/Midwest chapter).
