Richard E. Boyle, Jr., is the former West Virginia State Tax Commissioner and State Lottery Director. Mr. Boyle resigned his post in state government after eighteen years to enter the private practice of law with the firm in 1998. He is a member of the firm, works in the Charleston office, and his practice is concentrated in State and Local Taxation, Estate Planning, Estate Administration and Gaming law. Mr. Boyle has been named one of The Best Lawyers In America.

Mr. Boyle graduated magna cum laude from West Virginia University, receiving his bachelor's. degree in 1976 and received his J.D. degree in 1979 from the West Virginia University College of Law.

Mr. Boyle has served the State of West Virginia as Director of both the Inheritance Tax Division and the Legal Division of the West Virginia Department of Tax and Revenue.

Mr. Boyle is chairman of the Taxation Committee and a member of the Probate Committee of the West Virginia State Bar. He is on the Board of Directors of the Charleston Estate Planning Council and is a past President of the West Virginia Tax Institute, Inc. He is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, the Kanawha County Bar Association, the Charleston Area Tax Group, and is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Southeastern Association of Tax Administrators. Mr Boyle also serves as a Trustee on the West Virginia Investment Management Board. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for the St. Thomas More Catholic Lawyers Society.
