| Cynthia P. Ortega is a member of the Firm and has been practicing since 1981. Her practice is focused on representing developers and builders in matters relating to residential, commercial and industrial real estate development, acquisitions, sales and financing. Real Estate DevelopmentMs. Ortega has represented residential, commercial and industrial owners, developers and tenants in front of various municipalities with regard to zoning matters and development approvals. She has also assisted clients in acquiring, financing and refinancing various real estate projects. She has acquired a specialty in the affordable housing tax credit financing area. By way of example, she recently represented a nonprofit corporation in its tax credit financing with a regional tax credit syndicator for an $11,000,000 new senior citizens project in mid-Michigan. She also recently represented a local nonprofit corporation in one of the first mixed use planned unit development low income housing tax credit projects in Michigan. CondominiumMs. Ortega has extensive experience representing developers using the condominium form of ownership to develop residential, commercial and industrial projects. She also represents numerous condominium associations throughout the state of Michigan. Professional Affiliations and ActivitiesMs. Ortega is involved in many professional associations, including the Greater Kalamazoo Association of Realtors and the Michigan Housing Council. She holds a Michigan real estate brokers license. She is also a member of a number of law-related organizations, including the State Bar of Michigan where she is involved in the real estate section; the Kalamazoo County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
