| Fredric L. Bodner is Chair of the Firm?s Health Insurance and Life Insurance Departments. Mr. Bodner?s practice is focused on insurance regulatory and corporate law, including life insurance law, health insurance law, administrative law and Governmental Relations. He provides various services to the insurance industry including design, filing and obtaining approval of insurance products; representation before insurance regulators; opinions on the legality of insurance company practices; interpretation of law and regulation; obtaining required licenses; and provision of advice and assistance with regard to advertising and marketing issues, Insurance Department examination issues, market conduct issues, enforcement actions, policy replacement issues, premium rate and compensation issues, and related insurance matters. Mr. Bodner has been very involved in a number of important changes which have benefited NY insurers, including the New York Insurance Department prior approval with certification process and the development of the Department Product Outlines. Mr. Bodner currently represents more than 20 commercial insurers located throughout the U.S. and the Life Insurance Council of New York (LICONY) on various life insurance, annuity and health insurance matters. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Bodner worked for the New York State Insurance Department for 23 years in various positions including Chief of the Life and Health Bureau; Assistant Deputy Superintendent and Special Deputy Superintendent. As part of the reorganization of the Insurance Department, Mr. Bodner was named Chief of the newly formed Health Bureau. During his tenure at the Department, Mr. Bodner had broad regulatory responsibility, including supervising the prior review and approval of life insurance and health insurance products submitted by licensed insurers for approval in New York. He also established the Department's initial policy in many areas relating to life and health insurance sold in New York State. Mr. Bodner is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Regulatory Examiner's Society (IRES); a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for the Disabled in Albany; and a member of the New York State Bar Association.
