Background
James D. Baird is a lifetime resident of Burnaby, British Columbia. He is active in local community organizations, has coached minor baseball and is a leader and executive member with Scouts Canada. He currently resides in Burnaby with his wife and children.

Law Practice
Mr. Baird's practice focuses on wills and estates as well as general business law, corporate commercial and real estate related transactions.

His wills practice includes advising clients on estate planning and succession matters both corporate and personal.  He has extensive experience in all aspects of estates from the conception and implementation of the estate plan to the eventual administration of the estate. He advises individuals in estate planning matters including wills, representation agreements, powers of attorney, and family trusts. Some of the areas he is called upon for advice include wealth management, minimizing taxes and probate fees, and plans involving children and spouses in blended families, and families whose members have special needs or some form of mental incapacity.

Mr. Baird is also a contributor to Continuing Legal Education and has taught the wills drafting and estate courses.  He is a regular guest lecturer for the Professional Legal Training Course and has also taught many community public interest law courses.

Professional and Other Activities
Mr. Baird is a contributor to Continuing Legal Education including the wills drafting and real estate conveyancing courses. He is a regular guest lecturer for the Professional Legal Training Course and has taught many public interest law courses. He is currently a director and member of the executive of the Continuing Legal Education Society and the British Columbia Courthouse Library Society. He is past representative on the National and Provincial Council of the Canadian Bar Association, and past president of the Burnaby Bar Association. In addition, he has served on the board of directors of a non profit society operating seniors housing facilities, and licenced intermediate care facilities.
