Mark Stephens specialises in defamation and intellectual property and has undertaken some of the highest profile cases in this area in the country. Mark is also extremely active in many associated areas of the law and was recently appointed by the Lord Chancellor to be a Champion for the Community Legal Service . He chairs a number of committees including the Policy Board of the Internet Watch Foundation www.iwf.org.uk , the Management Committee of the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy Wolfson College, Oxford Centre for Socio Legal Studies and the Greenwich and Docklands Festival . He also sits on the Editorial Board of "Copyright World" and the American Bar Association Journal "Communications Lawyer" and is a trustee of the Solicitors Pro-Bono Group and on the advisory board of the Bar Pro Bono Group and the sports celebrity charity SPARKS (Sport Aiding Research for Kids). Mark is a Governor of Wanstead Church School and Honorary solicitor to the Contemporary Arts Society. Mark is a member of the International Board of Advisors for the media law programme at the University of Hong Kong. In addition Mark regularly appears in print and on radio and television. He contributes to the Radio 4 Quiz show "Points of Law". Mark often lectures at international organisations such as INSEAD and The World Bank Institute and he spoke recently at a programme on comparative media law and Social Policy at the Wolfson College, Oxford. Mark has also spoken at the e-forum in Paris on Achievements in Management and education Research. Mark recently attended a Commonwealth conference on Parliament and media.
