William W. Booker is Co-Chairman of the firm's Commercial Practice Group with his practice concentrated in banking and corporate law. He received his bachelor's degree from West Virginia University in 1970 and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Booker also received his J.D. from West Virginia University, graduating in 1973, and he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He also was Associate Editor of the West Virginia Law Review from 1972 to 1973. He was admitted to practice law in West Virginia in 1973, and is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for both the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, as well as the United States Court Of Appeals For the Fourth Circuit. A partner and member of the firm since 1979, Mr. Booker previously served as a clerk to the Honorable Herbert S. Boreman, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit from 1973 to 1975, and has been engaged in a general commercial practice for over twenty years. More than half of his practice during that period has involved representation of financial institutions. In recent years, Mr. Booker's practice has focused on commercial lending, both transactional and bankruptcy collections, and his experience continues to be an asset in the firm's consumer credit practice. Mr. Booker has been listed as one of The Best Lawyers In America since 1989. Mr. Booker serves as the secretary/treasurer of the Daywood Foundtion, a charitable foundation making grants in Kanwaha, Greenbrier and Barbour couties. Additionally, he is the chairman of the banking and business committee of the WV State Bar and chairman of the development council for the WVU College of Law. |
